ARRAIGO FORMACION

It is a permit for those that lived in Spain at least for 2 years and have not legal residence to study a course and then after change to a work permit. During the studies you can’t work. The process starts by you finding a course that you would like to study and then that is the time that we can start the process.
Once the process is approved, you will get a residence permit to study of 1 year that can be extended for another year. The first permit is 1 year but the length of the studies can be shorter than a year. This permit does not allow you to work.
Requirements:
-
Live in Spain for at least 2 years (Any kind of residence, with or without papers)
-
Not to have criminal records
-
Find and study a course leading to a job and study that course.
Documents needed:
-
Full Passport
-
Histórico de padrón
-
Criminal records certificate
-
Name of the course you’d like to study
Steps:
-
Wait to be 2 years in Spain.
-
Get your criminal records certificate.
-
Find a course that you like to study that can lead to a job.
-
Apply stating the course you want to study and wait for the result (2-3 months).
-
Once approved, enroll in the school.
-
After the course finished, change to work permit.
What course to choose?
In the law there is not specific minimum hours (a few months’ course will be okay). The course that you need to study needs to be a course leading to a job offer and among the courses that you can study are:
-
Master/Postgraduate university courses
-
Technical course (Ciclo Formativo Grado Medio/Grado Superior of 1-2 years)
-
Professional certificates (for example a driving license)
-
Courses of SOC in Catalunya. Buscador de cursos, especialidades y centros de formación. Servei Públic d'Ocupació de Catalunya
-
Courses in Madrid. https://oficinaempleo.comunidad.madrid/BuscadorCursosPublico/
-
Other provinces: Oferta de Formación de las Comunidades Autónomas | Servicio Público de Empleo Estatal (sepe.es)
To start the process, you don’t need to enroll in the school (remember that you still don’t have residence permit) and you only need to know what you would like to study. You can contact the school if you want to find information about the course but you won’t be able to enroll yet until we get the result. The course that you choose should start in 3 months so you have time to get the result of the application and then go to the school to do the application.

Is there a minimum lenght or hours of the course?
No. The law doesn't state a minimum hours or minimum months so any course that has a normal amount of hours should be fine. A course of few months should be accepted. A course of one weekend will probably not be accepted.
What happens after the course?
Once the course is finished, and you obtained your diploma, you will need to find a job offer related to your studies and then you can convert your arraigo formación permit into a normal working residence permit.
It can’t be converted to a job of different nature.
If you do not find a job or you do not finish the studies, you will lose the arraigo formación and you will then need to apply for arraigo social.
