​After you obtain your spanish nationality result and you do the jura you will have to go to the Police to obtain your DNI and Spanish Passport.

 

Obtaining DNI will implies that your NIE will not be valid any more. DNI is an identification card with a different number than your NIE so you will need to inform your work, the tax office, Seguridad Social etc.. that your NIE is cancelled and that now you have DNI so they connect your past records to your new number of DNI.

 

Some of those places will accept to change your NIE to DNI only by showing both identity cards and your new birth certificate but some other will request something called Certificado de Concordancia.

 

What is certificado de concordancia?

 

Certificado de concordancia is a valid legal document issued by Police stating that John Robert with NIE xxxxxxxx is the same person than John Robert now with DNI number xxxxxxxx.

 

Where to obtain the certificado de concordancia?

 

Many police stations, when you go to obtain your DNI for the first time, they have begun to issue the certificado de concordancia if you request it right away. If you didn’t request it in that moment or if the Police will not issue it right away, you can do it later with a cita also to a Police Station.

The tasa or cost for the application is 7.31€
