One of the requirements to apply and obtaining the Spanish citizenship is passing two different exams: the DELE and the CCSE.Passing the exams will mean that you have enough knowledge of the language and of the country to become Spanish.Generally the exams take time before they can be taken as the spaces are limited and many people wants to take them

How long does the Spanish nationality test take and how many questions does it have?

The exam takes 45 minutes.The CSSE consists of 25 multiple choice questions.To pass, you must get a minimum of 60% correct answers. Unanswered or wrong answered questions won’t deduct any point.If you fail the exam you can take another chance for free.

Where and when is the exam taken?

It is taken in all major cities in Spain and also abroad and take place every month. Normally there are many spaces.

How is the exam done?

The exam is a computer based.

What are the parts of the exam?

1) General cultural knowledge, traditions, and history of Spain (10 questions): Examples

2) Knowledge of the government, rights and obligations, politics, geography (15 questions).

When is it NOT necessary to take the CCSE?

They will be exempted to take the exams and can proceed directly to the application without doing the exams:

Minors below 18 years old.
Those who studied in Spain:
- ESO (school) in Spain
- Bachillerato (high school) in Spain
- Professional technical courses. (Grado medio y superior)
- Degrees and masters in Spanish

Is the exam difficult?

They will be exempted to take the exams and can proceed directly to the application without doing the exams:

DELE A2

This test certifies that you have a sufficient level of Spanish to understand and communicate.

Where and when are the exams taking place?

The exams is written and take places in all major cities in Spain and abroad and happen once a month. There are generally few exam spots so we recommend to book them in advance (few months before).

How long the exam takes?

The total time of exam takes around 3 hours. During the exam there is a break and it includes:

Reading comprehension, which lasts 60 minutes in which you need to reply after reading.
- Reading and email.
- Reading 8 advertisements/announcements/job offers.
- Reading 3 texts and relate
- Reading a long text and multiple choice
Listening comprehension test, which lasts 40 minutes.
- Listen to some conversations and match with 3 pictures.
- Listen to 6 short announcements with multiple choice answers.
- Listen to a conversation and you will need to tick the person who is doing that.
- Listen to 10 messages and find the title
Written expression, with two tasks of 45 minutes in total. o Write a reply letter to someone of 60-70 words o Write about general statements 70-80 words (your holidays, yourself…)
Oral expression. This consists of 3 tasks which you have some minutes to prepare.
- Explain something about yourself to the interviewer (2-3 min) o Describe some pictures (2-3 minutes)
- Explain something imaginary (3-4 minutes)

The total points of the exam are 100 (25 for each part). To pass the exam you will need to obtain at least 30 points in the parts of Reading and Writing and 30 points in the Speaking and Listening.

When is it NOT necessary to take the DELE?

Latin American country citizens
Minors below 18 years old
Students who obtained a DELE A2 certificate only from the Escuela Oficial de Idiomas.
