As of today, people provide language certificates to apply for ARRAIGO SOCIAL in Cataluña. But is it really necessary? And if yes how many hours required?

Is it necessary to study the language?

The advisable is to study the languages and to have a certificate of each (catalán and spanish). If you come to Spain and you are waiting for arraigo social there is plenty of time during those years to study the languages.

How many hours do I need to study?

As of today, the minimum requirements is at least 45 hours certificate of SPANISH and 45 hours of CATALAN.

You can study more hours and certificates to have the more chances to pass the interview with no issues at all even if you become nervous while being interviewed.

Lastly, learning a language of a country where you plan to live few years should not be seen as an obligation to fullfill but as a chance to learn and improve your skills that will lead you to better jobs in the future.
