OATH TAKING
JURA DE NACIONALIDAD
After receiving the approval of the nacionalidad, the next step is to do the JURA which is a quick process in which you will need to accept that you/your children want to become Spanish.
The time to do that is 180 days since the date of the resolution. As of the moment the appointments are generally after 180 days. but since we have booked the appointment, the timing is stopped so there is no problem.
For children bellow 14:
-
Both parents need to go to do the jura. The child doesn’t need to go.
-
If one of the parents can not attend the jura, must do an affidavit and apostille it (in case of abroad) + translation (if not in Spanish) giving power and confirmation to the other parent to do the jura.
For children 14 to 17 years old:
Both parents need to go to do the jura.
Children 14 to 17 years old must go too.
If one of the parents can not attend the jura, must do an affidavit and apostille it (in case of abroad) + translation (if not in Spanish) giving power and confirmation to the other parent to do the jura.
STEPS TO OBTAIN YOUR DNI AND PASSPORT AFTER THE APPROVAL
1. DO THE JURA (We give you the appointment booking).
2. After the jura, the registro will start to prepare your spanish birth certificate (BC) so you need to WAIT FOR THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE to be sent to your email.
If you did the jura in the registro, the time to receive your BC can vary but generally is not very long (few weeks).
If you do the jura in a public notary, the time is a bit longer and can take few months for you to receive your BC in your email.
3. Once you receive your Spanish Birth Certificate, BOOK THE APPOINTMENT for the Policia
4. GO TO DO THE FINGER PRINT and receive your DNI and pasaporte. In some cases they will give you the passport and the DNI in the same day but in some they might request you to get a new appointment to give you the Passport.

PLACE TO DO THE JURA
The jura can be done in 2 places.
-
Registro civil (free). We give you the appointment ready. Can take long time depending on the city that you live. The jura must be done in the registro of your residence. (can’t be done in another registro)
-
Public Notary (it has a fee). You can do the jura right away and then wait for the Birth Certificate to be sent to you. The process is faster and much confortable but the dissadvantage is the notary fee. If the fee is not an issue it might be good idea to do it in the notary.
