Finally after a long process you have obtained the spanish nationality and your DNI and Spanish passport!

 

However, if you do not inform the Spanish Institutions you will still be considered a foreigner (NIE) and they will not know that you are now spanish (DNI).

 

In this case we explain how to change your details in the Seguridad Social so all your contributions will be passed from your NIE to DNI. 

 

1. FILL UP THE TA1 FORM.

2. GO TO SS WEBSITE. https://portal.seg-social.gob.es/wps/portal/importass/importass/solicitudes/enviar and click on Enviar solicitud.

3. FILL UP YOUR EMAIL AND DETAILS.

You need to inform Social Security so they will update your details and your past contributions to the SS will continue with your DNI and will be connected.

 

4. TAKE A SELFIE HOLDING YOUR DNI and attach picture of your DNI on both sides .

5. SELECT THE OPTION TO MODIFY YOUR DETAILS: Cambio de NIE a DNI por obtención de nacionalidad española por residencia.

​6. ATTACH THE TA1 PDF SIGNED AND FILLED UP

7. CONFIRM PHONE CODE AND WAIT FO RESULT

In the final step they will ask you a new code they will send it to your mail. In 1-2 days after the application is submitted, the Social Security will contact you by phone or mail in order to inform you that your data has been updated.
