If  you have already a permit of Larga Duracion (a 5 years card) and that card is expiring you need to renew it. ​

The good thing about your situation now is that once you are already larga duración you don't really need to renew your permit but the card (TIE) itself in the Policia Nacional directly.

​When do I need to renew my larga duración card?

The larga duración can be renewed starting 30 days before your card expired.

 

How long will be the new card?​

​

The new card will also be valid for 5 years.

 

When I will not be able to renew my larga duración?

​

Once you are larga duración your situation will be as if you were spanish. You are authorized to stay in Spain forever but there are some situations in which you can lose your larga duración.

You will not be able to renew your larga duración from outside of Spain.​

​

You will not be abe to renew your larga duración if you have been outside EU for longer than 12 months.

​
